SSCAN Monthly Meetings

Every month, SSCAN members and friends meet to discuss ways to take political and personal action. When the WA State Legislature is in session, we review important bills and plan how to engage our legislators, as well as our local officials, so that they prioritize environmental preservation and restoration. We also regularly schedule speakers who provide educational presentations on topics relevant to climate change. Past speakers have included Michael Soman from Physicians for Social Responsibility, Michael Foster from Plant for the Planet and the Valve Turners, and Ellicott Dandy from One America, to name a few. Topics range from health to civil disobedience to carbon pricing. If you would like to be informed about future meetings and ways to take personal and political action in South Seattle and Washington State, sign up for our newsletter.

We schedule our monthly meetings for the 3rd Thursday of the month at a Seattle Public Library meeting room. Because the availability of meeting rooms varies, the location and time of our meetings may also vary slightly. That being said, we prioritize meetings at either the Beacon Hill Branch or the Douglass Truth Branch of the Seattle Public Library and scheduling permitting, we meet from 6 pm to 7:45pm. We also try to gather for some fun and social time, after our meetings, at a local pub or coffee house. Come join us, make some new friends and help save the planet!

Details for next meeting can be found on our events page.
