Fund the Weatherization Assistance Program this year!

Home heating by gas or oil is a major source of climate pollution.  It’s also a financial burden for many families. Funding our state’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) addresses both these issues, while also providing local jobs. Washington State’s 2021 Energy Strategy recommends that our state “Increase funding for low-income weatherization to address a minimum 10% of eligible households annually.”  This investment would put the program on a path to meet emissions limits for this category of emissions, while improving the affordability and comfort of housing for low income families.  The Governor’s budget recommends $55 million to the program. Ask your legislators to fully fund the Weatherization Program this year.
