Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 9th at 6 pm to hear about Seattle’s Energy Code, discuss future priorities and climate action options.
Our meeting with start with guest speaker, Duane Jonlin, FAIA, Energy Code Advisor, Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections | Duane Jonlin manages development of the Seattle Energy Code and serves on the Technical Advisory Group for the Washington State Energy Code. At the federal level he is a member of the ASHRAE 90.1 standard committee and is now chair of the IECC Commercial Code Consensus Committee. Duane is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and is a featured speaker nationally on issues of energy efficiency and energy regulations. Apart from all that, he’s a yoga practitioner, plays tuba, has two 20-something kids, and lives in the Ravenna neighborhood.
He will share his perspective that energy efficiency provides our most economical pathway to massive reductions in energy use, and comes with equally massive carbon reductions as a bonus prize. It’s also a great way to kill a dinner party. (Just try telling them all about your new water heater, or your extra-thick roof insulation.) Duane will summarize this year’s energy efficiency status at the local, state, and national levels, and then ask the group “How do we make this drab-but-critical topic tangible, important, and urgent for legislators and other decision-makers?”
we encourage you to invite family or friends to join you.
