True story: In 1971 Durham North Carolina, a community organizer set up a series of community meetings in hopes of averting what many feared was imminent violence over the desegregation of their city’s schools. He invited two “enemies” to co-chair the discussions: Ann Atwater, an African American civil rights leader and trade union organizer – and Clairborne Paul Ellis, a Ku Klux Klan leader and avid segregationalist.
Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell star in this 2018 Universal Pictures film that tells the tale of what happened next. Riveting! Please join us for the viewing and post-film discussion.
