Last month, the Seattle City Council passed a resolution to create a Green New Deal (GND) for Seattle. To move forward, the city council needs to create an Oversight Committee. Comprised of 11 people from frontline communities, 3 people from the labor movement and 3 climate pollution reduction specialists, the GND Oversight Committee will create policies to forward Seattle’s GND and will  convene officials from every City Department to ensure that they are taking actions to eliminate climate pollution by 2030.

The Green New Deal Oversight Committee ordinance will be voted on at Full Council at 2PM on Monday, September 16th. Also that day the Mayor’s Oil Tax Heating ordinance and Council Member Sawant’s resolution in support of the September 20th Climate Walkout will be voted on ― it’s a big day for our fight against the climate crisis at City Hall!

Please join us on Monday, September 16th and testify in support of the Green New Deal policies!
